Singapore Grand Prix sponsor SingTel on Tuesday unveiled the 12 Grid Girls for next month’s race. From more than 300 who auditioned, 51 were picked for their wit, personality and looks. All 51 will hold signs showing the nationality and car number of drivers during the Sept 24-26 race weekend. The top 12, mostly students aged 18 to 25, will vie for a prize of $10,000 by attempting challenges like racing in a simulator. Fans can also vote for their favourite girl at www.singtelrace.com before the crowning on Sept 16. The girls will need to brush up on their F1 facts quickly. Most thought that Lewis Hamilton was last year’s overall champion. In fact, it was his current McLaren teammate Jenson Button. The only two who named the winner correctly were Chanelle Yeo, 22, and Chanel Jones Lyn, 20.
