F1 2010 Championship race: The Title Contenders
The 2010 F1 season is one of the most wide open and enthralling season in the history of Formula One. With 7 races remaining, the top 5 drivers are separated by just 20 points- that is mere 8 points under old point system. Fernando Alonso,Jenson Button,Lewis Hamilton,Mark Webber,Sebastian Vettel- all have their eyes on the championship, but who will win the Championship? Or can we see someone else as the 2010 Champion? Have your say in comments. Let us assess the performance and merits of these drivers. Mark Webber Team:Red Bull Current position :1st Total Points: 161 wins: 4 pole positions: 4 Mark Webber is the first Australian to have won a Formula One race since Alan Jones in 1981.He is one of the gifted racing driver who didn’t had right car under his disposal. In 2009 we saw the real Mark Webber as he had 8 podium finishes under Red Bull. Team-mate Vettel may fractionally have the edge in qualifying, but Webber’s greater experience and race craft have carried him to more wins than anybody else this season. With the kind of experience he has and the car,he is favorite to win the Championship. Lewis Hamilton Team: McLaren Current Position:2nd Total points: 157 Wins: 2 pole positions: 1 The 2008 World Champion has struggled to keep pace with the Red Bulls. On several occasions this season Hamilton has been forced to wring the neck out of his car just to stay in touch with the Red Bulls and in the hunt for the championship. Reliability and consistency have again been the McLaren hallmarks this season and when you ally that with Hamilton’s aggressive approach, it is a fearsome combination. He has won in Turkey ,Canada and came 2nd three times in 2010 season. He needs support of McLaren’s Engineers to beat the Red Bulls. Sebastian Vettel Team: Red Bull Current Position:3rd Total Points:151 Wins : 2 Pole positions : 7 Vettel had the fastest car, seven pole position and still 2 wins- his story can be the one to regret at the end of 2010 Championship. Admittedly there have been circumstances beyond his control but there have also been moments that have hinted at his immaturity-To run into Webber in Istanbul was reckless; to attempt to cut up Fernando Alonso…
