Belgian Grand prix 2010 Preview: Rivals hoping to match up Red Bull

After a long summer break, F1 cars will roar again at the beautiful circuit of Spa-Francorchamp.With the Championship so delicately poised at this point of time, a wet race or even a race like the one in 2009 can give a new twist to the Championship. Force India’s podium finish last year is the talking point in Indian media. Can they repeat the magic? The VJMO3 is quite different from the VJMO2,but still the track – which has high speed straights – suits the Force India car. Mark Webber winning the Hungarian Grand Prix at the start of August and moving to the top of the drivers championship seems a long time ago, but he is now sitting there four points ahead of Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren with Webber’s Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel a further six points adrift and Jenson Button in the other McLaren four points further behind. Spa-Francorchamp circuitThe 7 km circuit is famous for its unpredictable weather. At one stage in its history it had rained at the Belgian Grand Prix for twenty years in a row. Frequently drivers confront a part of the course that is clear and bright while another stretch is rainy and slippery. Spa-Francorchamp has the longest full throttle section in F1 – starting at turn 1 and ending at S-turn “Eau Rouge”.In Kemmel straight, cars reliability will be tested as the cars can top 330kmph on 7th gear. The fast corner at turn 10 has very quick downhill,it can be difficult for the drivers to find the right line.Chicane before the start-finish line gives drivers ample opportunity for overtaking. Red Bull Vs RivalsRivals, particularly McLaren and Ferrari , can take advantage of the Red Bulls weakness in straight line speed.McLaren in particular performs better than any team in Straight line tracks. Since 1999,its either McLaren or Ferrari who has won at Spa. Will Red Bull be able to change the history? Michael Schumacher has the highest number of 6 wins on this track, but looking at the current Mercedes,it will be difficult for him to repeat it.Also 10 place grid penalty means no chances of the 7 times World Champion to finish at podium, unless and until some miracle happens on the race day. Weather Report FridayChance of Rain. Scattered Clouds. High: 20 °C . Wind SW 36 km/h . 20% chance of precipitation (trace amounts). Friday NightPartly Cloudy. Low: 10 °C . Wind…
